IBADAN — AN Oyo State High Court has given seven days to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar; Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Sola Olanrewaju, and others at Kajorepo Police Station, to file their processes over a case of assault instituted against them by a lawyer, Mr. Olaniyan Demilade.
The lawyer was allegedly attacked at the police station following controversy that arose over a bill of landing for a consignment of goods.
Already, the lawyer has sued the police authorities for N500 million damages.
Other defendants in the suit are the Divisional Police officer, Crime Officer, Kajorepo Police station, Ibadan; ASP Stephen Owolabi; Etim Ebighe, Police Inspector; and Egunnusi Dominic, a police corporal.
At the sitting of the court yesterday, before adjourning the case to May 23, Justice Muktar Abimbola said he gave the defendants the time because their counsel said the processes were transferred to his office just on Wednesday.
Abimbola warned the defendants to ensure they file their processes within the time ordered by court.
