Families of kidnap victims in Imo plead for mercy

By CHIDI NKWOPARA, Owerri

The Nwagwu and Ihekwoaba families have expressed worry that “there is still no clue” to the where about of their bread winners, Barrister Dan Nwagwu and Architect Emenike Ihekwoaba, several months after they were kidnapped and held hostage by their abductors.

While Ihekwoaba, the Principal Secretary to former Imo State Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, was kidnapped and held since August 2012, Barrister Dan Nwagwu has remained in his captor’s den for three months.

Nwagwu’s family made it’s lamentation in a two-page press statement signed by Sir Nnamdi Nwagwu and made available to newsmen in Owerri.     “We plead with those who are holding Barrister Dan Nwagwu hostage for these three months to develop the fear of God and respect for human life by releasing him unharmed to us. Their reward will be abundant blessings from God”, Sir Nwagwu passionately pleaded.

While saying that the rumor that their son had been killed created panic among friends, relations and compatriots, the family however reaffirmed their trust in God that their son’s captors will let go one day.  “We trust God and believe that our son, Dan, is alive and that his captors would develop some milk of human kindness to get him released to us”, the family prayed.

He appealed to anybody who may have useful information as to the where about of their abducted son not to hesitate to make such information available to the family or security agencies.
