ONITSHA — Anambra State House of Assembly has given the state auditor-general for local governments 14 days ultimatum to furnish it with the audited accounts for 2011 and 2012.
The ultimatum followed a motion moved by Mr. Gabriel Onyenwife, representing Ayamelum State Constituency and seconded by Mr. Valentine Anyika.
Onyenwife in the motion, stated that it was a breach of section 28(2-5) of the local government law 1999 for the auditor general to have failed to submit the audited accounts for 2011 and 2012 to the House of Assembly in 2013.
”It is an obvious fact that the auditor-general for local governments in Anambra State is yet to submit the 2011 and 2012 audited accounts of the 21 local government areas of Anambra State to this House of Assembly.
”The auditor-general for local governments is hereby urged to submit the audited accounts of the 21 local government areas of the state for 2011 and 2012 to this House of Assembly without delay.”.
