Sixteen schools from various states of the federation will be participating in the 2013 Channels National Kids Cup kicking off Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere Lagos.
Speaking at a pre-event media briefing in Lagos on Monday, Chairman and CEO Channels Television, John Momoh said, for the first time the competition was going national and schools participating in the week-long competition will be coming from Ekiti, Ogun, Osun, Delta, Anambra, Akwa Ibom and Niger states. Other states’ representatives include Jigawa, Kaduna, Edo and Rivers.
He explained that host state, Lagos will be presenting four schools to make it a sixteen team competition.
The competition which is supported by Delta State, Lagos State Football Association and Indomie will witness strict adherence to the age barrier which is 13 as the organisers promised to screen every player before okaying their participation.
The highpoint of the media briefing was the unveiling of jerseys for the competition by the CEO of Channels TV. He was assisted by the Lagos FA Chairman, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, the vice chairman, Tade Azeez and chairman of the Lagos MTN Street Soccer, Tijani Azeez.
