Nigeria-born Milwall defender, Danny Shittu said that their main aim in today’s FA Cup semi-final will be to wear down their opponents Wigan Athletic.

The Super Eagles defender who shunned an invitation to play in the Africa Cup of Nations to help his club in their domestic campaigns said that the game against Wigan will be hard and the only way to stop them will be to deny space to play their game.

“We play Wigan in the semi-finals and that’s a hard game. They play good football so we can’t afford to give up possession as it can be hard to get it off them.

Shittu has declared that he will use the confidence he gained from keeping Lionel Messi quiet at the 2010 World Cup as motivation against Wigan attackers.

“I learnt not to fear anyone. Nothing is impossible in football or in life. I want people to believe that, no matter what they do.

“ We are in the semi-final of the FA Cup on merit and I don’t think we have any reason to worry.

The two sides have met 14 times in the past, and they share identical records: Won four, Drawn six and Lost four,” Shittu said.
