Chairman of the Nigerian Professional Football League Management Company, Honourable Nduka Irabor yesterday told a critical Lagos press that he and his team were on track to making the Nigerian professional football league one of the best in the continent.

Honourable Irabor said all they were doing was to set the parameters for the smooth take off of the management committee that would take over from them. He debunked insinuations in certain quarters that the League Management Company was not carrying the club owners along in all their dealings so far.

“We are here on an interim basis. We set up the company in trust. It belongs to the professional league clubs; they are the ultimate beneficiaries,” Irabor said.

Irabor would not go into the controversies surrounding the legal status of the Nigeria Football Federation.

“I don’t want to go into legalities because it will lead us to nowhere,” he said, and blamed the pedestrian level of Nigerian professional football league on frequent tussles in the law courts  among football stake holders.

He called for the cooperation of all right thinking Nigerians as the task before them was demanding.
