UGHELLI— MINISTER of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, has assured that the second Niger Bridge and other abandoned major federal roads across the country would be completed and commissioned before the end of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration in 2015.

Onolememen, during an inspection tour of the N4.4 billion Ebu-Utor link Bridge project at the boundary of Edo and Delta States, said the Federal Government was committed to the completion of some abandoned road projects that have direct impact on Nigerians.

Emphasising that the 400 metres bridge project, which was revived last year, would  be completed soon, he charged the contractor handling the project, Inter-Bau Construction Company Limited, to expedite action on the project.

Saying that the Federal Government was interested in the completion of the bridge project aimed at reducing the journey from the Northern part of the country to the Southern region with about two hours, he commended the contracting firm for the job done so far.

According to him, the bridge project was abandoned in 2007 after N2 billion had been sunk into it, adding that the original contract cost was N4 billion as at the time of its award, which had been reviewed to N4.4 billion.
