BENIN — Following the recent abduction, by gunmen, of seven expatriates working for a construction company in Bauchi State, the Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, has condemned the kidnap of its members in various parts of the country, noting that the action was adversely affecting the construction industry.
The union, in a communiqué, weekend, at the end of its National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Benin, Edo State, called on the Federal Government to overhaul the national security system with a view to addressing the security challenges facing the country head long without fear or favour.
The communiqué, by Dr. Augustine Etafo, National President of the union, expressed dismay that the government had not come out with a categorical statement on the fate of the abducted expatriates in Bauchi State, saying: “This could spell doom for the industry and the development of the country at large.
“The NEC in-session, therefore, demands immediate clarification of the true position regarding this development before the industry is thrown into avoidable chaos.”
