Today, everyone quotes Shakespeare. It gives a certain credence, an authority to your writing. When you say ‘Shakespeare said’ no one cares whether you are writing entertainment, sports or politics, it is serious journalism. It’s only natural that we follow suit. Quite a pity that I’m not too sure who said “All is fair in love and war,” but I’m sincerely hoping that it was Shakespeare. If it was someone else, all is not lost, because some intellectuals have read this far. Lol!
There’s another aspect of Shakespeare that more specifically relates to this article. It’s the timeless classic, Romeo and Juliet. These two represent ‘love’, and their families; the Montagues and the Capulets represent war. So where is all this grammar leading to? Simple. Celebrity feuds have been going on for ages, long before Shakespeare’s time. It’s the amazing way than fans troop behind their favourite star during face offs that make feuds between the famous fun to watch.
Linda Ikeji and Jim Iyke
She started it! The feud between blogging queen, Linda Ikeji and Nollywood King, Jim Iyke became public when Linda posted a semi nude picture of Jim on her blog, and then wrote: “Every time I write about this dude, he comes after me on Twitter, but I must do my job na. Nice body.”
Her prediction turned out to correct because soon after, the actor tweeted a harsh reply when Linda refused to remove some of the comments on her blog. One of his later tweets had to be PG-ed, but it looked something like To the anorexic #cutnpasteb***h Linda n her #Hateacademy #jimiykeunscripted…we live so you can eat.” And then came the F word. The most recent show off from Linda was Jim Iyke’s picture from the Africa Magic viewer’s choice awards, “No comment”, Linda commented.
D’banj and Don Jazzy
It’s more sensational when a marriage made in heaven ends up in divorce. That’s what happened with the brains behind the now defunct monster label Mo’hits. Everyone wants to know what happened and why it happened, but more importantly, everyone wants to know what is happening now. Rumour has it that D’banj and Don Jazzy are no longer on speaking terms and do not see eye to eye but communicate via email only when necessary. Both seem to be doing well as individuals artistes, but fans will miss the love!
Omotola and Genevieve
Oh please! Genevieve showed up at Omotola’s surprise birthday party and they took a beautiful picture together. These duo have acted as each other’s sisters time without number, and all the staff on Ije said they were very cordial to each other. Get other it, the feud may just be going on in the minds of rumour hungry fans like you and me!
Two Face and Mikel
Dem say, dem say, that Two Face met Mikel Obi at a night club in London and wanted to famz with him, but Mikel shunned him. So Two Baba came back and did what any sensible musician would do, write a song about it. Many say that the song ‘ONLY ME’ was written in honour of the singer’s feuding buddy.
