COWA empowers member through skill acquisition

THE National President of Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Hajiya Sa’ adiya Abdullahi Dikko has restated the group commitment to empower members and the general public through skill acquisition.

Within three years of its existence, COWA, she said, has established its branches in all zonal and area commands of the Customs Service with impeccable records of achievements.

“Top most priority to COWA is empowerment through skill acquisition. To make this dream a reality, COWA in collaboration with National Directorate of Employment (N.D.E), have trained women in areas such as tailoring, soap making, bead making, computer application,fashion designing, interior decoration, event management among others.

In addition to skill acquisition and training workshops on health programmes such as Women Health and Economic Empowerment was organized between March 24–25, 2012”. she explained.

As part of her corporate social responsibilities, COWA in 2011, according to her donated various food and household items to the people of Kundu village in Abuja.

In the same vein, COWA officers at both Zonal and area command levels , she further said have donated relief materials to the less privileged, orphanage homes, hospitals and distressed communities.

In the years ahead, COWA is strategically positioned to deliver more welfare packages to her members and general public.

With the continuous support of the Nigeria Customs Management and other public spirited individuals, she informed that COWA will in no distant future become an epicentre of welfare, empowerment and economic liberation for the less privileged.
