Nigeria’s national U20 side  Monday night resume training after falling 1-0 to Mali in the Group B opening game of the on-going African Youth Championship played on Sunday in Algeria.

The defending champions were wasteful in front of goal, and as a result fell to Mali in their first game, and are due to confront Gabon on Wednesday in their next game.

Nigeria dominated ball possession and created more chances but Mali were efficient and defended in numbers.

It was against the run of play in the 13th minute that striker Adama Niane scored a poacher’s goal from inside the Nigeria penalty box to give the Malians the lead.

Media officer of the Nigerian side Sam Audu said the team are now set to make up for their loss on Sunday.

“The Flying Eagles resumed training on Monday night ahead of the decisive game against Gabon.

Kick-off for this game is 8.30pm and so the Nigeria U20 will also commence training about the same time.
