Asaba — WORRIED by the upsurge of illegal structures in Asaba, Delta State capital, the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, might have given a marching order to the state Commissioner for Environment to demolish them forthwith.

Governor Uduaghan had warned that the government would no longer tolerate the ugly development, which he said aggravates flooding in the state.

State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Frank Omare, has therefore, warned owners of such illegal structures, especially those blocking natural waterways and drainages, to pull them down as he would personally lead a  task force to effect compliance.

Omare, in a statement in Asaba, yesterday, said: “Those involved should remove them before the arrival of the government team, and those who failed to do so would be prosecuted at the mobile court set up for the exercise.”
