Suleiman Fakai, Deputy Inspector-General of Police (A) Operations, has tasked the Kebbi Police Command to ensure proper environmental sanitation within the office premises and barracks.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Chukwu Ikechukwu who spoke to journalists in Birnin Kebbi said the DIG was on an on-the-spot assessment of police formations in line with directives of the Inspector-General, Mohammed Abubakar.
Ikechukwu said the deputy inspector-general also inspected the command headquarters at Gwadangwaji and the barracks.
He said the aim of the inspection was to assess and eventually upgrade police facilities, to enhance performance.
He added that Argungu Police Division and the Police Cottage Hospital were also inspected.
“The Police DIG also addressed the men and officers of the command and urged them to ensure that their environment is always clean and healthy, stressing that the visit would be regular to ensure compliance.’’
Ikechukwu said the DIG also advised the command to maintain a cordial working relationship with the civil society and uphold the human rights of all citizens during investigations.
NAN reports that Alhaji Sabo Ibrahim was recently deployed as the new Commissioner of Police to replace Mr Tonye Ebitibituwa.
The new commissioner was, prior to his deployment, head of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. (NAN)
