ENUGU—More reactions have continued to trail Tuesday’s flooding of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja with President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 campaign posters as some civil society groups and opposition political parties yesterday, said the posters were hasty and could cause confusion in the polity.

Among the groups that spoke on the development in Enugu were the CNPP, Patriotic Alliance of Nigeria, PAN, and the Coalition of Civil Society organizations in the South East zone.

Secretary General of CNPP, Mr. Willy Ezugwu, said those behind the display of President Jonathan’s posters did not mean well for the nation and had no interest of the president at heart, as it was intended to cause confusion in the country.

He told Vanguard that CNPP was totally against any move by any group or persons to draft the president into seeking another term “when he has not effectively discharged the mandate given to him.”

He said: “We don’t want to believe that President Jonathan sponsored these posters but if the president decides to run in 2015 and his posters were already flooding the streets it is very unacceptable.”

On his part, leader of PAN, Mr. Maxi Okwu, said it was hasty for the president to commence campaign for another term in office when he had not discharged the functions of his office under his first tenure creditably.

Okwu said: “It is hasty for the president to talk about seeking another mandate at this stage. Looking at Nigeria and our propensity for sycophancy. Some persons may have done that without clearing with him, may be to either please him or force his hand to say something.”

Also reacting, leader of the Coalition of Civil Society organizations in South East zone, Chief Chris E’chukwu described as very unfortunate the premature release of the president’s posters on the streets of Abuja warning that it was capable of causing a major problem in the land.

Although he doubted if the president mandated any person or group to embark on such a campaign, E’chukwu, however, advised Jonathan to fish out those behind the move and ensure that they were sanctioned for attempting to cause confusion in the country and distract his government.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA,  also asked President Jonathan to halt all activities concerning his orchestrated move to seek re-election in the next dispensation and concentrate on fixing the numerous challenges currently confronting the nation.

National Director of Publicity of APGA, Mr. Ifeanacho Oguejiofor, told Vanguard, in Abuja that it was too early to determine who would contest or not in the election that is coming up in 2015.
