Madrid – Barcelona veteran central defender Carles Puyol on Tuesday signed a three-year extension to his current deal, tying him to the Catalan giants to June 2016.

“Carles Puyol today Tuesday extended his link with the club through to June 30, 2016,” the Barca club website stated.

Puyol, 34, has been a mainstay of the Barcelona team for over a decade, making his debut in the 1999/2000 season. (AFP)
