LAGOS —THE Lagos State chapters of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have disagreed over comments credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo that the PDP could win Lagos in 2015. While the ACN described Obasanjo’s comment as a joke, the PDP said the former President was in order.

It will be recalled that the former president had admonished leaders of the PDP to eschew self centeredness and reconcile their differences in the overall interest of the party and Lagosians to enable it win Lagos in 2015.

In a telephone interview with Vanguard, state chairman of ACN, Mr  Henry Ajomale chided the former president over his remarks to take over Lagos State in 2015 saying “tell him (Obasanjo) I said he is a joker.

“He has been saying that since he was president in 1999 and it was only Lagos State that he was unable to capture and he will not capture it because we are not in a military era.”
Reacting to the ACN, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Taofik Gani said Obasanjo’s remarks were in order noting that it was a “morale booster.”

He he said: “For those who have understudied the ACN very well, this is not going to be one of the exceptions. I am very sure that from the day he advised the Lagos PDP, I know that the leadership of the ACN would have been having sleepless nights.”
