Adamawa set for council polls

By Umar Yusuf

Yola—Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, ADSIEC, is set to conduct local government election in the state on November 24.

Fourteen political parties will participate in the election, which had been postponed on two occasions due to some rifts between the political parties on one hand and the state government and ADSIEC on the other.

Screening of chairmanship and councillorship aspirants had since been completed, even as the aspirants have started their campaigns.

An official of ADSIEC told Vanguard that the names of cleared and disqualified candidates would be displayed this week.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said all bottlenecks that were responsible for earlier postponements had been addressed.
