ACN to give fake dollars as vote bribe – Mimiko * It’s an insult on Ondo people – Akeredolu

IN its desperation to capture Ondo State, the Mimiko Campaign Organisation, MCO, has accused the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) of perfecting plans to buy vote and disenfranchise unsuspecting electorate in the state with fake dollar notes.

It alleged that the plot was hatched in Lagos on Tuesday evening following financial crises which now stare the party in the face owing to billions of naira already expended to prosecute the Ondo election. It alleged that the financial burden was already taking its toll on the five ACN controlled states in the South-West which were the major contributors to the war chest for operation ‘Ondo must fall.’

In a statement by Kolawole Olabisi, the  MCO said: “Now that it has become glaring that the Ondo election would not be a push over owing to the huge popularity of Dr Olusegun Mimiko whose rating has continued to soar, the ACN leaders have in their desperation to bribe voters; buy at least 500 voters’ cards from each ward in the Ondo Central where Governor Mimiko comes from and where there is a high density of voters and pay other sundry expenses of those to be imported as thugs; pay fake Civil Defence corps members; fake Youth Corps members; fake policemen and army among others, they have resorted to use fake dollars.

“We are aware that fake dollars abound in the Oluwole area of Lagos where the leader of ACN grew up, they have decided to import tons of these fake dollars to pay those who would be bought over.”

MCO claimed that to cover the obvious fact that its treasury was depleted and in the face of open protests from indigenes of these states who are already groaning under the effect of the cash crunch since the Ondo expedition began, a fund raising would be organised by ACN any moment from now to create the impression that they were spending money realised from this fund raising.

Countering, the Akeredolu Campaign Organisation (ACO) in a statement by its Director of Publicity, Idowu Ajanaku,  described the MCO allegations as not only coming from a confused mind but also as an insult on the good people of Ondo State.

“Indeed, the claim of financial crises in ACN controlled states is not only laughable but exists only in the imagination of Mimiko. Only yesterday Governor Kayode Fayemi marking his second year anniversary in office was busy celebrating outstanding performance with the people of Ekiti State with the commissioning of roads and other infrastructural development. In fact a memorandum of understanding was signed with Samsung to provide technological development and jobs for Ekiti people.
