The National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers had kicked against the recent demolition of telecoms base transceiver stations by the Lagos state Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development called Urban Furniture Regulatory Unit under the headship of Mr. Joe Igbokwe, describing it as unacceptable.
In a statement signed by the group’s national President, Mr, Deolu Ogubanjo and the general Secretary, Barr. Bayo Omotubora and made available to Vanguard said it does not stand against government generating revenue to fund its laudable projects, but condemn the agency resorting to self help and what it called unprovoked aggregation, describing it as a total negation of the rule of law professed by the state government.
The statement reads “Whilst we are not against the government generating revenue to finance its laudable projects, the agency’s resort to self-help and unprovoked aggression is a total negation of the rule of law professed by the state government.
“Our concern here is that the illegal acts of the agency stated above affected adversely the telecoms needs of our members in the areas where such illegalities were carried out, and they have complained to us.”
It therefore, appealed to the Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development, to restrain the agency.
