Preparations for the 2012 FIFA Japan U-20 Women’s World Cup will on August 13 receive a boost with the launch of a FIFA campaign “Live Your Goals”, according to the world football governing body.

In an invitation mailed to NAN on Wednesday in Abuja, FIFA announced that, a “press conference will precede the friendly encounter between the cadet teams of Japan and Canada.

The match is slated for the Azuma Athletic Stadium.

It further revealed that Junji Ogura, the Local Organising Committee’s President who doubles as Japan Football Association’s Honorary President, would be in attendance, alongside Tatjana Haenni, FIFA Head of the Women’s Competitions.

NAN reports that FIFA seeks to use the popularity of all its women’s tournaments as a catalyst, to encourage young women and girls to participate in the sport.

The campaign will also highlight the many different benefits active participation in football brings to young women and girls, ranging from making friends, learning about teamwork and being physically active.

The 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup is slated to hold from August 18 to September 8, with Nigeria and Ghana as Africa’s representatives. NAN
