Team Nigeria to wear traditional attire

Team Nigeria athletes competing intomorrow’s opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will wear traditional clothing in an unprecedented act of solidarity with other competing nation’s  athletes who will also be wearing traditional dress.

The Nigerians will be led out by flag bearer,  Usman Maryam competing in the +75kg Weightlifting.  The Nigerian contingent will be clad in their white attire that is sprinkled with green, making up the national colours of the largest black nation in the World.

Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Honourable Tunde Popoola confirmed  yesterday that the attires were carefully chosen for the contingent.

‘’It’s going to be our traditional attire mixed with white and green, the colours of Nigeria. It’s a reflection of us and we are ready for the opening ceremony”, Popoola offered.  . The opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games are scheduled for Friday, July 27.
