As Furious Energy dance group leaves for the United States to fly Nigeria’s flag at the World Hip-Hop International Dance competition, they do so with one thing in mind -To win laurel for the country.
The group which won the 2011Sprite-Triple Slam contest and a third place finish at the finals of the Malta Guinness Street Dance contest will leave the shores of Nigeria tomorrow, Sunday July 29. Each member of the group has been given the U.S visa to enable them reside in the country for the duration of the competition.
Addressing the media during the week was the events manager of the Universal Choral Organization, sponsors of the dance group, Mr. Alex Ofuonyeadi who disclosed hat the group which has been in existence as a registered Dance group of Nigeria Dance Team since 2007 would be going to the United States come Sunday, 29th July to represent Nigeria at the World Hip-hop international Dance Championship.
He lamented that efforts to get government’s support for the team has failed stressing that ‘’It is saddening that a country as gifted as Nigeria do not care about the welfare of the youths even though they are regarded as the future of the country’’.
The organization he said wrote letters to the Minister for Youths concerning recognition for the group and sponsorship but none has been replied.
Furious Energy is the third African country to enter into the competition would be battling alongside South Africa, Zimbabwe and other American countries vying for the same cup which carries a cash prize of 25,000 dollars and recognition from all over the world.
