The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) has appointed a new Registrar and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in person of Mr. Emmanuel Omoniyi Ajayi following the voluntary retirement of former Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. O.A Olorunleke
The President/Chairman of the Council of the Institute, Mr. Muritala A. Olushekun, on Wednesday in Lagos revealed the appointment of the new Chief Executive.
According to him, “Mr Olorunleke joined CIS in August 2004 as Assistant Director and Head of Membership and Student Affairs and was promoted to Deputy Director in June 2005. He was subsequently appointed as Registrar and Chief Executive in March 2007. Over the years, he served meritoriously in various capacities and as member of several committees of the Institute.”
The CIS President further commended the invaluable contributions of Mr. O.A Olorunleke, who helped in contributing to the growth and development of the Institute.
He further disclosed that Mr. Emmanuel Omoniyi Ajayi assumed duties as the Registrar/Chief Executive of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers on 02 July 2012. In another development, the CIS has introduced professional diploma in securities and investment.
While briefing newsmen, Olushekun, said, “ In line with the Institute’s mandate to continually provide world-class training, and internationally recognised professional qualifications for individuals working in the finance and investment industry, the Governing Council of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, at its meeting of Thursday, March 15, 2012 approved a new programme: CIS Professional Diploma in Securities and Investment.
The CIS President stated that the new Professional Diploma is a foundation course for anyone wishing to start or progress his or her career within the financial services industry.
According to him, “It has been designed to meet the needs of new entrants in the industry, providing an overview of all key areas of Securities and Investment.
With a minimum entry requirement of five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics in WASCE/GCE/SSCE/NECO (and equivalents), the new programme indeed has opened the doors of opportunity to millions of aspiring and promising Nigerians looking for the right career opportunity.”
He further highlighted some of the benefits of the programme to include : Opening the doors of opportunity to all those who aspire to work in the financial services industry, irrespective of their background and previous work experience; Providing basic qualification with an attractive terminal value for employees working in, or aspiring to work in, the financial services industry, among others.
