Flying Eagles coach, John Obuh who escaped sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation has promised to produce a stronger under-20 team, better than the one that  was trampled upon by Ghana, South Africa and Argentina during an invitational tournament in Johannesburg last May.

Obuh who took Nigeria to a quarter-final placing at the last FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Colombia was accused of wrong selection of players and have been warned by the Nigeria Football Federation president Aminu Maigari to put aside personal interest and build an all wining team for the country.

The Flying Eagles are billed to tackle Tanzania on July 28 for the African Youth Championship and the fear of failure has gripped officials of the NFF following the bad result in South Africa.

“We were really disturbed  the NFF was not encouraged by team’s performance in South Africa.  are not happy about this.

“The Flying Eagles is a team known over the decades for giving joy to Nigerians through good results. Way back in 1983, the team became the first from Nigeria to participate in a FIFA tournament. We cannot afford to backslide ,” Maigari was quoted as saying.
