As the battle against piracy continue to be elusive, Nigerian pop duo, Peter and Pual Okoye, otherwise known as P-square have concluded plans to enter into a business pact with one of the biggest record labels , Universal Music Group based in South Africa.
The deal was sealed last Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa. Already the music label has perfected plans to release past and future projects of the pop singers. Under the new arrangement, the firm would be handling all their digital and CD sales of P-Square works all over the world. This is an amazing and big step up for the pop singers.
The brothers who have been linked with Akon announced last December that they had signed a pact with Konvict Music label as African representatives. Universal Music Group is the parent company of Akon’s Konvict Musik and Kon Live Distribution labels.
The company founded in 1934, is an American multinational music company and one of the ‘big four’ recording companies in the world. But, as is the norm in music business, Universal Music SA is a ‘South African’ company distributing in that country and environs.
We can not confirm as at the time of writing, the specific particulars of the Psquare contract, and whether the brothers are also in talks with Universal in Europe and the US.
The deal with Psqure, we were told, is a South Africa distribution deal covering past and current Psquare catalogues.
