Olu’s 25th anniversary: 200-boats-regatta to display, Saturday

WARRI – THE  Iwere International Royal Boat Regatta, IIRBR, has said that the proposed royal boat regatta will May 6, 2012, exhibit the beautiful Itsekiri dance with over 200 well prepared and designed boats on display at the Warri River, Nigerian Port Authority, NPA, Warri.

IIRBR, in a statement yesterday at the Olu’s Palace, said the epoch making event was expected to be witnessed by notable dignitaries, including traditional rulers across the Niger Delta, other parts of the country and abroad. He said it will involve all the ethnic nationalities in the state in a rare display of brotherliness, comradeship and chivalry.

Expected at the glamorous event are Presidency officials, senators, governors, ministers, top military brass, directors of oil majors and all stakeholders of goodwill to the Itsekiri people.

According to the organisers, all Itsekiri communities are fully mobilised with their boats for the carnival competition, where winners would be handsomely rewarded.
