IBADAN—THE National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has concluded plans to ban importation of used non-digital television and radio sets from the United States and Europe to meet up with the 2015 deadline set by the International Telecommunication Union, ITU, for full digitisation of  the broadcasting industry from analogue to digital UHF and VHF by 2020.

The Director-General of NBC, Mr. Yomi Bolarinwa, said this , yesterday,  at a lecture organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Oyo State Chapter.

To actualise this,NBC added that it would soon put all machinery in motion to get the backing of the National Assembly.

Warning Nigerians against buying electronic sets that are non-digital, he said after the digitalisation of the country’s broadcasting stations, many of the TV and radio sets would not be able to receive signals from the stations.
