The New World Mission Dunamis International University (NWMDIU) recently presented seven prominent Nigerians with the honorary doctorate degree. The Director, NWMDIU West Africa said: “We recommended about 23 people to the university, but only these seven were taken.”

The seven awardees include: Chief Alexander Opeyemi Akinyele, Dr. Olubayode Olugbenga Awosika, Maulana Sheikh Tahir Usman Bauchi (OFR), Mr. Emmanuel Iyagwere Ajayi, Rotarian Bello Akingbade, Mrs. Bimbo Alashe-Arawole and Sir Chief Chukwuzubelua Alexander Orakwe.

The chairman of the occasion, Dr. Luke Okojie said: “We have so many people who are doing well in Nigeria, but we are being portrayed as people who have no hope. But that is not true. That is why it is necessary that we celebrate our own, just like we are doing here today.”

Awosika who spoke on behalf of the honourands appreciated the university for the gesture. He said: “I want to especially thank the university. It is great to know that we are recognised outside our own shores. It is a well thought of thing, especially when you consider the caliber of people that were chosen.”

Also commenting on the long distance electronic learning programmmes organised by the university, Awosika said: “There are a lot of people who cannot afford learning in person, so we thank God for this initiative. Money should not be a barrier to learning.”
