Imo govt to partner with Thailand experts in rice production

The Imo government has disclosed its plans to engage in massive rice production, using some experts from Thailand.

Gov. Rochas Okorocha, who announced the plan in Owerri during the week  said it was part of the state’s agricultural transformation scheme.

According to him, the government has entered into negotiation with some experts in Thailand to commence massive rice production and processing in the state.

He said the arrangement would lead to massive production for both commercial and local consumption purposes.

Okorocha also said that such arrangement would guarantee job creation and agricultural development.

He tasked the 27 local governments to at least plant 20,000 improved palm seedlings each in this years farm season.
