By DAYO JOHNSON
AKURE— PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, said no fewer than 200 ex-militants would be sent to the multi- million naira skill acquisition centre built by a former militant leader from Ondo State, Chief Bibo Ajube, for the training of Niger Delta youths in various skills by the Federal Government.

President Jonathan spoke at the inauguration of Bradama International Skill Works constructed in Agadagba-Obon, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Niger Delta, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, the President said the construction of the centre was an indication that the amnesty programme of government was achieving the desired result.

Jonathan noted that “government was ready to partner with the centre to ensure further liberation of the youths of the Niger Delta area and enable them contribute to the development of the nation.”

According to him, one of the benefits of the amnesty programme was the increase in crude oil production capacity which had moved from 700,000 barrels per day before the proclamation of amnesty to 2.4 million barrels per day.

On his part, Governor Olusegun Mimiko said the inauguration of the vocational centre was a testimony of the vision of the founding fathers of the amnesty programme which was designed to contribute to the development of the people of the area and the nation.
