KADUNA – Unknown gunmen, yesterday, killed two persons including a Lebanese and a Nigerian before abducting another Lebanese during a robbery operation at Kakeyi village in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Another source said a group of armed men carried out attacks on households around 1am in Boro village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna, seriously injuring a father and his son.
The source said: “The villagers initially repelled the attackers and sent distress calls for help as the unidentified gunmen fled through the bush.”
However, the hoodlums in Zaria, according to natives of Kakeyi, had mounted a road block early in the morning and were allegedly robbing people when they met the Lebanese, Mr. Padi Ibrahim and killed him before abducting his colleague, Amir Drek. The gunmen also killed a Nigerian, one Mallam Aliyu Nuruddeen.
The two people killed and the one abducted worked for Mother Cat Construction Company and were said to be on their way to inspect the much-delayed Zaria Water Works rehabilitation project.
One of the eyewitnesses, who identified himself as Sani Ado of Kakeyi Village said: “They blocked the road leading to the project site in the village and robbed passers-by before killing two people and kidnapping an Arab.
“The victims were well known as workers here. When they saw the road block at the end of the bend, they made a sudden U-turn. But the armed robbers pursued them and shot two of them dead. “One of the Arabs was forced into their car, and they escaped with him.”
Confirming the incident, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Spokesman, Deputy Superintendent Aminu Lawan, described the incident as a case of armed robbery and not kidnap-ping, adding that the Police have commenced investi-gation into the incident.
