BENIN—AHEAD of the July 14 governorship election in Edo State, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Mike Ozekhome, weekend, explained why the people Edo North and other parts of the state rejected the offer of deputy governor by Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying that the incumbent governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, had performed creditably in office.

It will be recalled that the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Haliru Momoh, Ikelebe III, recently aired similar view that people of Edo North do not need the position of a deputy governor because of the performance of Oshiomhole in his first year in office.

Ozekhome, who insisted that the forthcoming election will not be about the political parties,  said it was an insult to the people for the PDP to canvass for votes when the state already had a governor, who has a track record of performance.
