LESS than 24 hours after he returned from his overseas vacation, Governor Theodore Orji has recalled the 8 suspended commissioners and 17 Local Government transition committee chairmen.
The Governor also recalled some other political appointees he suspended two months ago for security lapses during the laying-in-state of late Dim Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in Aba, the commercial capital of the state.
Governor Orji announced the lifting of the suspension order on the affected officials Thursday during a meeting he separately held with them at the Government House, Umuahia.
However, feelers from the Government indicate that some of the commissioners and the two newly nominated may swap ministries.
Meanwhile, the Governor has appointed a new Chief of Staff. He is Dr. Cosmos Ndukwe, who until the appointment was the General Manager of the state environmental agency, ASEPA. He was replaced at the agency by Mr. Ikechukwu Apugo.
Orji was quoted as admonishing returning commissioners and council chairmen to brace up and work hard as he was in a hurry to see that infrastructural changes come to all nooks and crannies of the state.
He was also said to have asked the council chairmen to work in harmony with their deputies who held sway while their suspension lasted, saying there must not be any friction among them.
Meanwhile, the governor has said that he was working hard to develop the state because he knows that after office he would remember here with the people.
“My concern now is to embark on projects till I leave office. As I entered Government I know that I will one day leave office, but I will leave with my heads high. So I want leave legacies. As I am here one day I will leave office that is why I am working hard to make this state better”, Orji told prominent Abia people who came to welcome him from his vacation.
