NMA backs Medical Guild strike in Lagos

The Lagos chapter of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Wednesday says it is in full support of the strike by the Medical Guild.

The Chairman of the association, Dr Edamisan Temiye, who made this known during a news conference in Lagos, said: “we are in constant contact with our members all over the federation and the national president of the NMA.

“We are all behind the guild and we appeal to the State Government to retract from the action of war and intimidation it has embarked upon so far, “ he said.

Temiye further appealed to the government to implement all the agreements to restore peace to the health sector in the state.

He warned that “any attempt to arrest, dismiss or humiliate any doctor will lead to actions that may spread beyond the state. ’’

He said that the government had lost credibility, adding that its actions were intolerable.
