Ahead of the crucial battle next weekend at a yet to be determined venue between the Super Falconets and their Congolese counterparts, the national female U-20 team began intensive training for the fixture last Monday.

Media Officer of the team Ejiro Babafemi disclosed to Saturday Vanguard Sports that the team have  resumed training for the all important tie against the central African team.

According to her, “ right now, the team is  in high spirit as they are determined to battle the Central Africans in order to pick the ticket for the World Cup billed for Japan in August”.

Continuing she said, “the team resumed training last Monday and the  spirit in camp is very positive. However, they (Falconets) have promised not to  take  any team for granted and are  aiming  high for the match against Congo  next week,” Babafemi said.

She added that “In camp, the girls  are very much united and  determined. They have promised not to underrate the Congolese side as they are aware there are no minnows in Africa anymore. They are also aware that in football anything can happen and all they need to defeat Congo is to prepare adequately which is why they started  training early.

Ladipo charges Falconets to beat Congo

President of the supporters club chairman Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has charged the Super Falconets to up their game when they battle  Congo next week in  the FIFA U-20 Women World Cup qualifier scheduled for next weekend in a yetv to be determined venue.

Dr. Ladipo who said he is pleased with the brilliant results  posted by the team so far, advised that the girls  should  stick to their winning ways so as to pick the World Cup ticket billed for Japan later this year.

While advising that the only way to success  is for them to be consistent, focussed  and  work hard, he  assured them of the Supporters Club backing to beat Congo.

Speaking to Saturday Vanguard Sports in his office in Lagos, Dr. Ladipo said, “ I’m so pleased with the  current results of our female team(Falconets). It shows they are ready to pick the World Cup ticket. With their performance so far and the effort being put in each match, I don’t have any doubt of their victory.

Continuing he said,” But complacency in any game kills a player or team in a football competition. They have done well in the past no doubt but as the saying goes ‘it is  not over until it is  over’. They should not be overconfident or rest on their oars. Football is not mathematics and therefore they should put extra effort to ensure they get the desired  results,” he said.
