BENIN—EDO State chapter of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANNP, yesterday, in Benin, said it had suspended its National Leader, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, from the party indefinitely for alleged anti-party activities.
A statement by the state chairman of the party, Mr. Stephen Aimufia and five other executive members, said the party was disappointed at a statement credited to Chief Oyegun to the effect that Governor Adams Oshiomhole had performed well to merit a second term in office.
Reacting to the suspension, Chief Oyegun described the action as of no consequence.
He said: “They have been trading with the party and they can go on trading with it. They have absolutely no disciplinary powers over me and I have the right to air my personal views. I wish them luck”
However, the ANPP said the statement credited to Oyegun did not in any way represent the thinking and position of the party in the state as they were Oyegun’s personal views .
