BENIN—A Chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria in Edo State, Mr. Mathew Emiohe, yesterday, explained that emergence of the incumbent governor Adams Oshiomhole as the only candidate for the party’s governorship primaries was an attestation of the governor’s stewardship to the people of the state.

Speaking with Vanguard, Emiohe said the primaries,  endorsed by Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC, was a complete contrast to the primaries of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, which he said was a charade.

“All members had the opportunity to nominate their own person and it was not restricted to some persons. It is a sharp contrast to what PDP did by having delegates to go there and vote”.

Theirs was very prone to corruption and if you listen to what the governor said, the delegates were manipulated and some of the aspirants are still angry till today because of what happened at their primaries. Some of them were bribed; some were bought to vote for a particular candidate against their preferred choices.

He said Oshiomhole’s victory had shown that the people of Edo State appreciated the good works started by him, and used the opportunity to say thank you to him for his development strides in all parts of the state, adding that the people want him to continue and finish the good things he started.

On how the party intends to win votes in Edo Central, he said, “what I can say is that in Edo Central, especially in my own local government area, Esan central, everybody has come to realise that Oshiomhole must be allowed to continue what he started. They have now realised that they had been deceived all along and have not been told the truth.”
