ILORIN—Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Professor Sulyman  Abdulkareem has called for support from well meaning individuals and organizations to enable the private university speedily fulfill its mission and vision to the people.

Abdulkareem spoke during the investiture of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of MRS Oil Plc,  Alhaji  Sayyu Dantata,  as the first chancellor of the university.
He said that already,  Al-Hikmah which is one of the four Islamic Universities, including  Crescent University, Abeokuta; Fountain University, Osogbo and Katsina Islamic University, Katsina had about 2,000 students population with no fewer that three hundred academic and non teaching staff.

He said that  infrastructural facilities have also increased to match the growth in student and staff population even as the university had so far graduated three sets of graduands who were conferred with various degrees and diplomas at the university’s maiden convocation on September 23,2011.
He added that  the National Universities  Commission, NUC, had accredited all degree programmes at Al-Hikmah while five additional programmes were currently awaiting the commission’s accreditation.

Abdulkareem noted the assistance being solicited became imperative because the university was entering its second phase of its development when the colleges of engineering and technology, and law would be established,  stressing that”the university urgently needs to put in place the necessary infrastructures for these two colleges to facilitate their commencement within the shortest possible time.”
