Super Eagles head coach,Stephen Keshi has disclosed that the May 23 friendly match against Peru is an agreement that has been in the works between the NFF and the Peruvian FA and has therefore advised that Nigerian should not fault the tie.

Making this known to Saturday Vanguard Sports, the former Hawks of Togo gaffer said the game will be a good avenue for the home Eagles to further improve on their experience.

He said that more home players will be invited to the team’s camp as he and his technical crew visit league matches to find quality players.

“It is an understanding that has been on ground between both Federations before now. It is okay to play against the Peruvians and it will definitely be a great experience for the home lads to prove their mettle before our game against Namibia in June.

“Right now we are thinking about that now as all the boys have returned to their various teams and we in the technical crew are in a mission to discover new ways of moving the team followed.  So I believe that this is the time to talk about that now. We are preparing ahead of the camp by visiting league games to monitor players and also spot new ones that will be invited,” Keshi said.

Reacting to news that made the rounds that less foreign players will be invited for subsequent matches  following their performance in Kigali, he said for any team to be outstanding, there must be a mix of players.

“We both need the foreign and home players to make up the team. The most important thing is to get a solid team for Nigeria which will take some time to build. The number of either professionals (home or foreign) is not the problem,” Keshi added.
