The government through the Ministry of Interior on Tuesday promised the national team; Super Eagles total support in the rebuilding process of the team and especially in its forthcoming qualifying games for World Cup 2014 and Nations Cup 2013 tournament.

Interior Affairs Minister, Comrade Abba Moro, said this when he received his long time friend and Super Eagles handler, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi in audience in his office in Abuja. Keshi had during the visit said he has been receiving the best form of support from the Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi and the leadership of the NFF headed by Alhaji Aminu Maigari, but like an Oliver Twist, he will never stop to ask form more from all strata of government.

Keshi revealed that being an old time friend he has been watching closely the activities of the Interior Ministry and that of External Affairs during the national team’s away games and he is proud to be associated with the Minister and his ministry.

Moro, in his response promised to use his good offices and friendship with Sports Minister Abdulahi, to help the Super Eagles get total support from government at all levels. He said he has been a long time admirer of Keshi and even when he was coaching the Togolese and Malian national teams he was wondering why Nigeria was wasting money in the search for a foreign coach, when a son of the soil was doing a lot better for other countries.

“Now that you are here we believe that the national team of Nigeria will return to its glorious days because you were one of the persons that took Nigerian football to a very great height as a player and we believe that you can repeat that as a coach”.

The Minister called on Nigerians to continue to assist the national team with prayers and moral support. Keshi was in the company of national team Coordinator and former Abuja FA Chairman, Emmanuel Atta, during the visit.
