Yenagoa—President Goodluck Jonathan, weekend, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, said he will not interfere in the administration of the state. governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson.

Meanwhile, Col Sam Inokoba (rtd) has emerged as chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, through consensus arrangement.

President Jonathan noted that the responsibility of governing his home-state lies in the hands of the governor, his team and PDP at the state level.

According to him, the task of administering the country was enormous and as such, he would not meddle in the administration of Bayelsa State.

Jonathan said: “I have enormous task to manage the country, why should I think of Bayelsa State. On my part, considering my innate character, I am not going to interfere in the state’s administration.”

He  spoke shortly after the conduct of the state PDP Congress at Peace Park in Yenagoa.

He said: “I was here as a deputy governor and most of you knew, especially people from Ogbia, that I had no business with the running of Ogbia Local Government Area. I never interfered. As a Vice-President then and now, the President of the country, I can say clearly that I am not going to interfere in the management of Bayelsa State. The management of the state is in the hands of the governor, his team and the party at the state level.

“Some of you who are my personal friends or relations may want one thing or the other from the government; I would play a very minimal role in that respect. The governor has to govern the state and we have to encourage him by giving him any assistance we could from Abuja, with a view to transforming Bayelsa based on the dreams of our founding fathers.”

He lauded members of PDP in the state for exhibiting high level maturity and peace during the state congress. He commended the security agencies and Independent National Electoral Commission for their support and logistics.
