A new lease of life was last week brought to the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, as new students trooped out in large numbers with their luggage to start a new academic session.

Quadlife investigations revealed that some halls of residence were bubbling with activities, such as Anglo-Moz. Also, the exteriors of Mozambique Hall, a hall meant for the fresh ladies and Angola Hall for the fresh guys, were agog with various activities.

However, every session, things take different dimensions especially for the freshmen and this session was no exception. Before now, freshmen were usually allowed into the hostels to settle in before they begin registration, but the reverse was the case this session as the freshmen were refused entry into the halls until they have registered and allocated spaces at the different halls of residence.

According to some of the freshmen who spoke to Quadlife, the new system appeared tedious and chaotic as everyone craved to be the first to be attended to. One of the freshmen, Yemi Balogun revealed that though the system was stressful, she did  not mind. “After all, I have got the admission which is the most important thing. ”

On her part, Tolu Michael described the new process as hectic. “I have no option than to go through the processes like other students, because my priority is to find a place where I can lay my head,” she affirmed.

Though lectures are yet to commence as at the time of filing this report, but according to a student leader, this period is probably a good time for the new students to explore and appreciate the beauty and grandeur of their new environment.
