Determined to provide basic infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed last weekend, flagged-off  the provision of N104billion infrastructure in three new districts within the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

The Minister, who officially flagged-off the provision of these basic  engineering  infrastructures, said they were in line  with the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan and the FCT Administration’s road map.

The new districts include Jahi, Wuye and  Maitama Extension which was  renamed Goodluck District.

Senator Mohammed revealed that Jahi District infrastructure was awarded at the sum of N40,869,354,274.38; Wuye District at N39,681,137,736.47; while Maitama Extension is to cost N23,650,000,000.00.

According to him, the FCT Administration is determined to ensure fulfillment of developmental programmes of the Federal Government in Abuja through opening up of more districts which will encourage plot owners to commence development of their property.

The Minister emphasized that his administration is aware of the fact that much still needs to be done in opening up more districts and providing primary engineering infrastructure to meet growing demands of the Federal Capital Territory.

He stressed that the ground breaking marks yet another significant development in the history of the Federal Capital Territory and assured that the FCT Administration will continue to accelerate the provision of engineering infrastructure to ensure the delivery of adequate residential accommodation to the citizenry.

Senator Mohammed said this infrastructural transformation will not only open up the Federal Capital Territory but to also provide accommodation, employment opportunities and further decongest the city centre.

He noted that the provision of infrastructure to these districts is momentous because over 1,292 hectares of land will be opened for immediate development with Jahi District 650 hectares; Wuye 411 hectares and Maitama Extension covering 231 hectares.

Meanwhile, the FCT Minister has commissioned a five kilometer Sunrise-Guzape Bye-Pass donated by three construction companies namely Setraco Nigeria Limited, Dantata & Sawoe Nigeria Limited and Gilmor Engineering Nigeria Limited.

Senator Mohammed stated that the commissioning ceremony is an eloquent testimony that the FCT Administration is responsive and fully committed to partner with private sector to improve the lives of the people who live and work in the Federal Capital City and its environs.
