UGHELLI-ASSISTANT Registrar of Delta State University, Abraka and wife of the state Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Stella Muoboghare, was, yesterday,  abducted by unknown gunmen.

The woman, Vanguard gathered, was whisked from the husband’s staff quarters on Campus 1, at about 7:45 am, while she was getting set to take her kids and those of her neighbours to school.

The suspected kidnappers numbering about four, drove off with their victim in the Mercedez Benz 190, in which they came through the small gate linking the expressway after forcing the university security guards on duty to lie faced down.

The arrival of the suspected kidnappers in a commando style drove fear into the kids, who were waiting to be taken to school. They ran into neighbours’ houses for safety.

Effort to reach the husband, Prof. Muoboghare, for comments proved abortive at press time.  However, a close family source said the suspected kidnappers were yet to establish contact with them.

Contacted, the state Police Public Relation’s Officer, Mr Charles Muka, said he was yet to be briefed on the kidnap. Meanwhile, a senior police officer attached to the Abraka division said they were on top of the situation.

The police officer, who pleaded anonymity, expressed hope that they would get the suspects, adding that the police, was working hard to tackle the upsurge of kidnappings in the state.
