CAN condemns St Finbar’s bombing

BY Sam Eyoboka

LAGOS — THE Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN,Sunday, condemned the latest suicide bombing of a Catholic Church in Jos, saying the act is barbaric and out rightly condemnable in all ramifications.

In a reaction on behalf of the National President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the media officer of the umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria, Mr. Kenny Ashaka, said any well-meaning Nigerian will not relent to condemn the continued acts of terrorism in any part of the country, saying this particular one is barbaric and condemnable.

According to him, reports are still sketchy as to who is behind the barbaric act on St Finbar’s Catholic Church, Jos, but “this is one of the reasons why we called on the Federal Government only last week not to treat terrorists with kid gloves.”

“We are using this opportunity once again to reiterate our call on the Federal Government to deal decisively with those who are perpetrating these acts of terrorism in the country. They should not be pampered at all. They should be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land,” the CAN spokesman stated.
