ABUJA—A former Director in the Department of State Security Services, SSS, Mr. Gilbert Nwokenye, has said the mission of Boko Haram and its sponsors was to force the government to do their bidding and even disintegrate the country should government call their bluff.

According to him, terrorist organisations pick interest in their activities because they want to coerce the public into supporting their cause and intimidate the government into succumbing to their demands.

He said: “They want to discredit and destabilise the authority; they want to provoke the authorities into taking repressive measures.”
