Katsina – The Police in Katsina State on Tuesday arraigned two suspects, Bala Shehu and Yusuf Danauta, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Katsina for alleged armed robbery in Faskari Local Government Area.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Okolo Usman told the court that the suspects together with 38 others, now at large, invaded Faskari town on March 8, with dangerous weapons, conducted a house-to-house robbery and injured some people in the area.
Usman said that the suspects carted away N336,000, mobile phones, gold chains, earrings and other valuables estimated at thousands of Naira.
He said that the two accused persons, identified by their victims, were immediately apprehended by the police.
The offence was contrary to section 1(2)(a)(b) of Robbery and Fire Arms (special provision), Act (cap. R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004), he said.
The Chief Magistrate, Alhaji Nuraddeen Jikamshi, adjourned the case to April 9, for mention and ordered the suspects to be remanded in prison custody. (NAN)
