AKURE – The Ondo State government will next month commence an emergency medical service on highways in the state, as part of the rescue measures being put in place to save the lives of accident victims and reduce death rate in auto crashes.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Dayo Adeyanju who gave this indication, said most road accident victims lost their lives due to lack of quick medical attention.
According to Adeyanju, the state government was taking the safety measure because of revelations that motor accidents would be the leading cause of deaths in the year.
“We will begin to save lives because it has been said that road traffic accident in 2012 will be leading cause of deaths so we are already thinking ahead of that” the Commissioner said.
Meanwhile, the state government has informed of its plan to take off with its zero polio programme which is expected to fight against polio beyond the traditional door –to- door immunisation.
