Chairman of chairmen of the Nigerian Football Federation, Effiong Johnson has urged the home Eagles to desist from individual play and imbibe the spirit of team work as they prepare to battle the Lone Star of Liberia in Monrovia.

The Akwa Ibom State Football Association Chairman told Sunday Vanguard Sports that the team will be become the toast of Nigerians if the coach is allowed time to sieve the grains from shafts.

“I watched their game against Angola here in Abuja, if they are kept together as a team for a while, they will become a team that will be reckoned with. I expect them to approach the game as a team that want to understand themselves better and not just to win the game.

“The way Keshi has started in rebuilding the team shows he has something up his sleeves to offer. I want to appeal to Nigerians to give him support so we will evaluate his performance very well at the end of proceedings. I say this because I know he wants to succeed,” Johnson said.

On the belief that the present home Eagles can give their foreign counterparts a run for their money when the Nations Cup qualifiers start in February, the NFF security sub-committee head said, “I am sure with the way Keshi is tutoring them, when the qualifiers start, they will give the foreign players a good run for their money.”
