As the news of the verdict of the Organising and Disciplinary Committee of the Nigerian Football Federation reached the media, parties involved remain mute.
Speaking to some of them parties involved, they informed Vanguard Sports that until a copy of the verdict reaches them, they can’t make any comment.
First to speak, General Manger of Lobi Stars, Samuel Aindigh said, “I am still waiting to be served the judgement of the O/D Committee. Until this is done, I can’t make any statement. Immediately I am served with, we (Lobi Stars) as a club will know wither to make comment or not,” .
Tolling the part of Lobi Stars General Manger, both Mike Idoko and Divine Ogbonna of Ondo State Sports Development Agency, managers of Sunshine Stars of Akure, in a separate telephone chat with Vanguard Sports said, they have not gotten a copy of the judgement therefore they can’t make any statement knowing fully well that it will not be substantiated enough.
Reflecting on the judgement, the Chairman of the Organising and Disciplinary Committee, Barr Leye Adepoju said those alleged to be in the scam were not found guilty for match fixing, but for attempting to fix a match.
“The decision was informed by our investigation, which is why we do not find the parties involved guilty. The case was an attempted match fixing so it necessitated the fine and suspension which the rules states,” Barr Adepoju said.
Reacting to the various comment by Nigerians that the both clubs should have been relegated , stripped of their last season’s position and withdrawal from the CAF Champions League this year, the Ibadan born layer said, “I do not know the rules you are talking about which permit them being relegated and stripped off the title. The rules are clear in the NFF Status, Nigerians should read it very well,” Barr Adepoju added.
